Islamic Society Pushes For a New Pledge of Allegiance, Replacing “God” with “Allah”

Plainfield, Indiana – Azhar Azeez, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), with the compliance of Hamtramck, Michigan, stated he is planning on changing the wording of the Pledge of Allegiance to replace “under God” with “under Allah, praise be unto Him” during ISNA’s annual national convention.

The Pledge of Allegiance as we know it today has been around since 1954. First written in 1892, it has gone through two edits; the first to include the phrase “the Flag of the United States of America,” and the second added the ever controversial “under God.”

ISNA is pushing it’s edit of the Pledge because it aligns with the Muslim community’s religious view. Azeez denounced it’s current iteration during his speech.

A look at the ISNA convention back in 2013

“This change was never meant to be politicized. Simply put, it aligns with our goal to to be an exemplary and unifying Islamic organization in North America that contributes to the betterment of the Muslim community and society at large.” said Azeez during the convention, regarded as the largest gathering of American Muslims in the United States.

“The Muslim population of the United States has been nothing but supporting of the American people, bringing virtue, morality, and graciousness into every community. It is time we receive recognition, recognition we and the Muslim religion so rightfully deserve,” declared Azzez, as the crowd cheered on in support.

The change to the Pledge of Allegiance will first be voted on in March in the city of Hamtramck, Michigan. If the Pledge’s edit does pass, it will be issued the following school year to every public school across the city. It seems, though, that there is very little that can be done to stop Azeez and ISNA.

In late 2015, Hamtramck, Michigan made news because it was the first city to elect a Muslim city council, consisting of a Muslim major and 4 Muslim city council members, of the six. Going back a decade, Hamtramck was dominated by Polish Catholics but in 2013 has turned into the first United States city to have a Muslim-majority population.

Remnants of the Polish culture still remain in Hamtramck, such as this Polish market

The city’s muslim roots, however, date back to 2004 when the city council gave permission to a mosque to broadcast its prayers from the speakers on its roof, a decision that angered the city residents, who called it “an intrusion of Islamic practice onto a public space.” Ever since then, it has become a sort of sanctuary for people of Muslim descent.

The new Pledge of Allegiance will read;

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under Allah, praise be unto Him, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Following Azeez’s speech, members of the city had two very different reactions to the news.

ISNA expects their new Pledge of Allegiance to be instilled in other Muslim communities around the US in 2018, following the result of Hamtramck.

    Seriously,

You claim that you deserve a reward for doing what American Citizens do each and every day, which is to bring virtue, morality, and graciousness into every community. Your “reward” for being a good person, is that you’re allowed to live in the United States of America, NOT come in and change our traditions to fit your beliefs.

If you wonder why a lot of American’s want the Muslim communities tracked and watched, if you wonder why we are distrustful, THIS is why! You’ve got some nerve.

    Dear Islamic Society,

You claim that you deserve a reward for doing what American Citizens do each and every day, which is to bring virtue, morality, and graciousness into every community. You must be joking. American’s who behave as they should are rewarded each and every day by the very privilege of getting to continually be allowed to live in our great country. If they (we) fall out of line too much, we then receive the “privilege” of being incarcerated. We do not get, nor do we expect any other “rewards” for proper behavior and this is OUR country.

Your “reward” for being an expected contributing person, is that you’re allowed to live in the United States of America, NOT come in and change our traditions to fit your beliefs.

If you wonder why a lot of American’s want the Muslim communities tracked, watched, and deported… if you wonder why we are distrustful of Muslims, THIS is why! You’ve got some nerve. IF you don’t like the way that things are here, might I respectfully suggest that you leave. I cannot believe the utter gall of the Muslim community, many who have been allowed, even welcomed into the United States, despite their blatant disrespect for our country on many levels. I am not sure if you have what we call common sense, common courtesy or common manners where you come from but I assure you that this attempt at changing a centuries old tradition, here in the States with wording that MOST Americans take offense to, goes beyond any type of courtesy that we were raised with.

I will personally fight you and send letter after letter to every local and state representative. I will write letters to Congressmen and Senators as well as Donald Trump, for I find this beyond disrespectful to Americans. Live here, be courteous, respectful and go about your business you own way but do not come into my country and demand a reward for behaving like a decent human being. If that is your agenda, I personally do not want you here. Period.

    Respectfully,

    Tamia Lynn Slack-Walker

Let us see how the atheists will handle this situation. Looks like we have a minority situation about to take place. Next, no Christians or Jews will be allowed into the city limits. Sharia law is on its way into this city. These groups must be watched very very closely. The UN and ICCPR must be scrutinized and critiqued. If you are reading this, then it is your responsibility to look up the ICCPR and then scrutinize it. You are the Gods of change! You are the voice!
